Data the app stores

The app stores study progress, review history, learning preferences, and language settings in a local SQLite database on your device. This data is used to run the learning experience, including scheduling reviews and showing progress. Individual Word records and answers stay on your device.

Optional usage sharing

In versions that offer usage sharing, nothing is sent to PostHog until you choose Share usage. You can decline and keep using every learning feature. You can change your choice in Settings.

If you agree, WordKin uses PostHog to understand screen visits, onboarding steps, Book and language choices, daily goals, study starts, pauses and completions, hint use, and totals of new Words and recall ratings. Events include their time, app version, platform, a random installation identifier, and a session identifier. These identifiers let us measure returning usage without an account or your name.

We do not send search text, individual Word identifiers or answers, detailed study history, contact information, advertising identifiers, screenshots, or screen recordings. WordKin has no advertising and does not link this information with other apps for advertising or share it with data brokers.

PostHog processes usage events for the app operator. Network requests expose ordinary connection information, including an IP address, to the service; the app disables location enrichment. Event storage and retention depend on the operator’s PostHog project configuration. See PostHog’s privacy policy for information about the service.

Sharing and external links

If you choose to export attribution information, the app opens the system share sheet. You decide which destination receives that content. Links in the Credits & Licenses screen open in your browser. Those destinations operate under their own privacy policies; the app does not receive data about what you do there.

Removing your data

Choose Settings → Reset all progress to delete study cards and review history stored by the app. Deleting the app also removes its locally stored data, subject to your device and backup settings.

Turning off usage sharing stops future collection, discards unsent events on the device, and removes the local analytics identifier. Resetting study progress does not change your sharing choice. Turning sharing off, resetting progress, or uninstalling does not delete events already received by PostHog. Contact support about previously shared data; we may need additional information to locate it because the app does not collect your name or email for analytics.

Support messages

If you email support, the message and return address you provide are used only to respond to your request and maintain necessary support records. Please do not send sensitive personal information.

This website

This website does not set analytics or advertising cookies. Its hosting provider may process ordinary request information, such as IP address and browser details, to deliver and secure the site.

Changes

This policy may be updated if the app’s data practices change. The current version and effective date will always appear on this page.
